Edition 2 - "Help! I'm addicted to Pots"
April 5, 2006
Help! I'm addicted to pots, and if you use mana, you probably are too. This week we look at healthy alternatives to satisfy such nasty addiction that can cost us up to 10g for a stack of 5 [Major mana potion]s.
In my questing for cheap ways to get mana pots, or even health pots is UD strat. Usually no one really cares if you are opening the crates that may or may not be booby-trapped, but every now and again someone might. I find it best just to run up and jump on one then run away, sometimes it will break, but if you are quick enough you can manage to get out of aggro range before the rats or whatever attack you. If the thing dosn't break then well open that puppy up and score some free pot.
Another good place to get some cheap pot is from pvp. Back when I was in the grind I would always have 5 of each of the pvp pots([Combat Healing Potion][Combat Mana Potion] that are available for purchase once you reach rank 6 and are allowed access to the Hall of Legends. These potions are pretty nice at 9s each, and there's an unlimited supply of them, so stock up they are more useful in pve than pvp.
Potions are fine and dandy and all, but sometimes you just need that extra boost to excell through the fight in order to keep that nub rogue that is pulling aggro off the MT alive. For this we have items that don't share a cooldown with potions, WOOT! [Night Dragon's Breath] and [Whipper Root Tubber] are the two best (non-pot) items in the game for restoring mana/health while in combat. The Night Dragons breath is the only one of the two that restores Mana and its not much only around 400 or so, but hopefully that will be enough to get another heal off just in the nick of time. The thing that makes these guys soo good is their cool down, Mana and Healing potions have a 2 minet cool down between uses, the Tubers and the Dragon's Breath only have a 1 minuet cool down. And now for the kicker... Night dragon's breath and Potions, DON'T SHARE THE SAME COOLDOWN, omg so amazing that means boom you fire off 2 heals down a dragons breath heal, heal, heal, mana pot, /flex, heal, dragons breath, and guess what.. you are still at 90% mana. I don't know about you guys but thats prtty amazing to me. Of course I am just a carebear.
Ok so now you may be wondering where the hell do I get these amazing things? The answer my friend is felwood, These Items are actually quested for in a low 50's zone and the best part is the quest is repeatable. The first step is to complete the quests that Maybess Riverbreeze gives to you, and then complete the repeatable quests that give you [Cenarion Plant Salve] you need 4 of them to cleanse the Night dragon's Breath plants and 3 to Purify the Whipper Root Tuber plants. These plants are hit and miss a lot of the time because of
their high demand for both librams and general awsomeness but you can usually find them pretty easy around 1am server time.
Here is a |Map| that can help lead you to the plants for cleansing.
The plot thikens when we add, yet another non-potion item that does not share the potion cooldown [Dark Rune]s drop from the mobs in scholo, and they are pretty amazing things. These guys Restore 900-1500 mana at the cost of 600-1000 life on a 3 minute cool down. Combo them with the Night dragons breath and you get about 2k mana and loose only aroun 400 hp. Be WARNED though, don't go using these in a pug or in battlegrounds.. Uou'll probably die because no Burrito Bandits Are nubs.
That's all for this edition of Carebear Corner, now get to farming those mana regen items so we can pwn in AQ:20 & ZG.
~Otter
Next Issue: Nature resist, and where to farm it.
