About the Burrito Bandits

Location:  We are a Horde guild on World of Warcraft's Eonar (normal) server.

General:
D
on't let the silly name fool you.  The Burrito Bandits are an established, respected Horde guild on the Eonar server with an almost two-year legacy.  Our light raiding schedule makes it easy to balance the guild activities with a real life, and our family-friendly atmosphere has been a point of pride since the guild's creation.  The guild is run by an officer core, but officers always take member feedback into account before important decisions are made.  We offer our members freedom from mandatory taxes, fees, and forced specs.  Simply put, all we really want is for our members to have fun.

Did that introduction seem civilized enough?  I left out the parts about cybz, poop, and rampant swearing.... close enough I guess.

Five-Star Amenities:
--Free guild tabard upon request! (See picture at right for tabard picture)
--24-hour access to our Ventrilo server!
--Sometimes-good-natured conversation!

If you have a hearing/internet disorder that prevents you from using our voice chat, please let the leadership know and we will take necessary measures to keep you in the loop!

Guild Information

History of the Burrito Bandits:

<Burrito Bandits> was founded in mid-July, 2005 as "Team America" by the then-GM Tacostand and his lovely assistant Poj.  The guild was founded in the hopes of obtaining a dominant presence in Warsong Gulch, back when Team America's officers and members were all participating in the 21-30 instance (the lowest at the time).  In those days, "twinks" were few and far between, and characters below level 30 with serious weapon enchants were unheard of.

On October 5th, 2005, Team America decided to change its name on the grounds that the current guild name might be deemed "political" in some respect, and real-life politics shouldn't really take involvement in a fantasy game.  Yeah, it all sounds kinda silly now.  There was a vote, and "Burrito Bandits" was the winner.

Tacostand lead the Burrito Bandits (appropriately) for another few months, at which point there was a leadership overhaul.  Tacostand left to graze greener pastures, and Poj was promoted to the position of Supreme Taco.  Eventually, Tacostand decided that grass really isn't greener on the other side of the fence, and came back.... but Poj kept her title.

Interested in becoming a member?
We are always looking for willing players who are interested in what we have to offer.  You may apply using the Guild Forum's online application.  Please check the note at the top of the application to see what current positions are open.  In some cases, the application process may be avoided in the event that you have arranged as such with an officer, but these types of situations are rare.

If you wish to get in touch with an officer before you apply, please be courteous.  If that officer is currently in an instance, be sure to wait until they finish!

Rank Overview:
Here are the guild's ranks, in the order of lowest to highest.  These are the guild's "main" ranks, excluding bank/catchall/goofball ranks that are periodically inserted in between.  Keep scrolling down if you wish to see Promotions, Demotions, or Expulsions.

Beans - Lowest rank of the Burrito Bandits.  Newcomers will remain beans for about a week.  Once new members have proved their dedication, they will be promoted to Burrito.

Alturitto - Place for alts in the Burrito Bandits.  Members are allowed as many ACTIVE alts as desired.

Burrito - Normal rank for members in good standing.

Chalupa - Junior officer rank for those who have showed repetitive excellence and dedication.  There may only be 8 Chalupas at any given time.

Burrito Supreme - Senior officer rank for those members who have put outstanding effort into building the guild.

Supreme Taco -  Poj!

Promotions, Demotions, and Expulsions:
Upon initial acceptance, members are tagged as "Beans" or whatever the lowest rank of the guild happens to be at that time.  Burrito promotions often happen within the same day, while officer promotions must be applied for.

Demotions may occur if a player is inactive, or in the rare case that a behavioral issue arises.  Most often, attempts to solve behavioral issues will be taken confidentially.  If these issues persist, the player in question may be asked to leave the guild voluntarily or else be demoted.

As of recently, I have changed our expulsion policy to include players who are absent for more than 3 months (sometimes including alts).  If you come back after 3+ months to find yourself removed, contact an officer and you will be added back in.  The general reason for inactive member removal is to ensure that the guild statistics properly reflect the guild's active player balance.

Another reason you may be removed from the guild is if you receive ample warnings and still continue a certain pattern of disturbing behavior.

Guild Policies

Policy Overview:
Burrito Bandits pride ourselves on offering many fun options to our members.  We will never force a player to change their spec, and we will never prevent anyone from changing mains.  To see more about this, scroll down to "PvE Policy".  We also offer freedom from taxes or obligated fees.  Generally, most of our policies are in place simply to back up the general policies already enforced by Blizzard.

PvP Policies:
No hacking.

Aside from that, try to be nice to people in battlegrounds.  If someone's bothering you, try your best to ignore that person.  Keep in mind that you represent the guild as a whole in battlegrounds, and your actions should make us proud.  Also, don't be a pansy.

PvE Policy:
In 5-man groups, you are expected to behave reasonably.  Pass on all BoP boss drops, greed roll all green BoE stuff unless someone else needs it.  Same old.

As far as raiding goes, we never force our members to play a certain class or use a certain spec.  However, it should be noted that if you favor a class that is heavily-played, there may be limited room in raids and you may not be granted a spot.  Spots are first-come first-serve, with limited switching available during the course of some raids.

Although BB is not a guild that raids with great frequency, we do expect the following for all sponsored raids:

General raid etiquette:
Punctuality - Please be on time to raids!  Tardy raiders may forfeit their spots to more punctual ones.  Do not expect a summon if you come in late.
Armor repairs - Repair bots are expensive.  Please remember to fully repair your gear before zoning into a raid.
Potions and supplies - Do not rely on the raid to fully supply you with potions, arrows, or reagents.  Please bring a full stock of your normal supplies to raids.  Warriors and Rogues - be sure to grab your own share of arrows or bullets before a raid!
Talking over officers - Unless specifically instructed, always refrain from attempting to talk over a raid leader or officer during an explanation.
AFK breaks - Please let somebody know if you have to go AFK, unless it is an emergency.  Regular, official breaks will always be taken.
Mods and Voice - Please have the proper required mods and voice chat client confirmed as working properly before a raid's start.  If you are unable to run one or both of these things during a raid, please speak with the raid leader and you may be granted an exception.

Alt Policy:
Upon being accepted to Burrito Bandits, any alt you may have is automatically accepted is well.  You will designate a character to be your "main" character, and the rest will go in the "Alt" rank section of the guild.  Although it is encouraged, you are not required to have all of your characters in this guild.  So long as you are at least somewhat active with whatever character(s) you choose to leave in the guild, I don't mind where the rest of your characters are.  So long as it doesn't appear that you're using this as a dumper guild for a bunch of alts you never play while your main goes off and joins another guild, there shouldn't be a problem.

Game Terms and Conditions:
Please make sure you read Blizzard's policies on harassment, as we basically enforce those same rules (we're sort of obligated to).

In short, the guild will not tolerate the following activities:

--Any verbal abuse dealt to another player (guild member or otherwise) in any public setting (public chat channels or forums),
--Excessive boasts, brags, or "god complex" behavior
--Use of vulgar language in public chats and forums (some is permitted in guild chat, wink wink),
--Text spamming in any channel, including /say, /yell, /tell,
--The repeated use of all capital letters,
--Derogatory or inappropriate racial/gender-based put-downs,
--Excessively charged arguments.  If you spark a heated argument in guild chat, you may be asked to take it to another venue.

Any member who practices any of the above-listed activities may receive warning, demotion, or expulsion from the guild depending on repetition and/or severity of the offense.  You will be warned by an officer if your behavior is threatening in any way.  If you feel that something another guild member has said compromises your safety or security in any way, do not hesitate to contact an officer.  The matter will be dealt with confidentially, if that is the desire.

Burrito Bandits also frowns upon gold/character selling and the use of third-party executable "hacks", bots, and other executables deemed illegal by Blizzard Entertainment.  In our experience, you do get caught.  It isn't worth it.

No Taxes:
We are proud to offer our members freedom from dues and taxes!  Hooray!  Although it is encouraged that you donate time and possibly items to our guild bank or directly to other guild members, no goods may forcibly be taken by any player in the guild, from any other player in the guild.  This includes officers.  You will not, for instance, be required to send all of your blacksmithing supplies to a "guild blacksmith".  Your professions and your items are yours to do whatever you want with.  If you have an item another guild member might want, you are encouraged but not obligated to give the item away.  If you wish to sell an item you believe another guild member might want, it is not prohibited to do so.

Speak Freely
What you say in guild chat is yours to say.  We do not censor or block guild chat from any user, and all guild ranks are able to use guild chat at their leisure, to say whatever they would like to say.  Of course, this doesn't mean you can be overly vulgar, or express any type of harassment or put-down toward any other guild member.  If you do happen to say anything overly vulgar in guild chat, you will be asked to simply knock it off.  Hopefully this does not happen repeatedly.  :)

Alternately, if anyone has an issue with something that's being said in guild chat, please talk to Poj or an officer and we will discreetly tell whoever it is to knock it off.
